Union LA is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021, and the Chris Gibbs-helmed outfit has tapped some of its biggest collaborative partners to aid in the festivities. None, however have made more noise than Jordan Brand, and after a first Union LA x Air Jordan 4 was revealed in April we now have a look at a second collaboration: the Union LA x Air Jordan 4 “Desert Moss.”

Thanks to its unique material construction and unexampled stitched-down tongue, Union LA’s Air Jordan 4 has always garnered a healthy amount of interest and conversation. The “Desert Moss” is sure to further that ethos, as it’s easily Union’s most wildly-colored AJ4 yet. The eponymous “Desert Moss” hue, a rich yellow, is used on the suede mudguards and eyestays. It’s quickly contrasted by “Dark Iris” mesh toeboxes, quarters and collars.

The quarter panel serves as a base for some of the shoe’s most interesting details, namely white midfoot netting and filled-in “wings,” done up in translucent plastic. “Turquoise Blue” is introduced into the mix on the bottom eyelets, tongue badge and heels. On the last of these pieces, it’s equipped with a purple Nike Air hit for classic style.

Rounding off the look is the aforementioned folded-down tongue itself, done up in a natural tone to match the midsoles. Aqua Air Max units, two sets of flecked laces and a duo of unique hangtags — one of which repurposes Union LA’s OG logo — add a sprinkle of shoe-finalizing flair.

As the Union LA x Air Jordan 4 “Desert Moss” was revealed by a Twitter post from someone who appears to work in a Nike, Inc. warehouse, an official release date or pricing info has yet to be revealed. However, the Union LA x Air Jordan 4 “Desert Moss” will likely hit stockists this summer.
