Crate Challenge Injury Fears as Fail Videos Go Viral

A new challenge has emerged on TikTok in the past few days.

The Crate Challenge essentially involves a person trying to traverse a pyramid of plastic milk crates without toppling them over.

The craze is going viral on, with #CrateChallenge already garnering a whopping 15.3 million views on TikTok.

But in case you were considering given the task a go, here are some videos of how wrong it could go….

Bankrolld3lla shared a video, which can be viewed here, of two men attempting the challenge by walking across a pyramid of crates in a park.

The overlaid text read: “Crate challenge in the hood for a thousand.”

Shared on August 22 the clip, which has so far been viewed 776,600 times, shows the first man clambering the top and when he reaches the highest point the plastic crates collapse beneath him.

The next man then tried and got further across before also dangerously falling to the ground as well.

Another clip, which was posted on August 23, has already been viewed a whopping 3.6 million times. It shows another man running up some crates before flying face-first onto the floor, no doubt narrowly missing getting a head injury.

Text over the video, which can be watched here, reads: “This crate challenge getting out of hand.”

The footage, shared to the site by Theralnovaakan3, is captioned with a string of laughing-face emojis and the words: “man #fyp #cratechallenge.”

Another clip of the challenge, shared by viralloubens, has been captioned: “he gon need medical assistance after this.”

In the clip a man can be seen confidently striding up the crates only to come into trouble when he places both his feet on the fourth make-shift step.

This causes him to wobble from side to side before tumbling over. Also posted on August 23 the video, which can be watched here, has already been viewed by 66,500 times.

At Tennessee State University many students gathered to cheer on people attempting the craze, in a video which can be watched here.

First a woman collapsed into the crowds, followed by a police officer, quite amazingly, as well as a young man.

The clip, shared to TikTok by Baybaygotfanz on August 23, was captioned: #cratechallenge #tennesseeestateuniversity #tsu24 #tsu23 #tsu22 #tsu25 #tnstate.”

However many people are persisting, despite the high risk of injury.

In one video, which looks somewhat less painful, a woman actually does manage to clear a large pile of crates, in front of a large crowd of people on a front lawn.

The woman, who is wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts manages to complete the climb as she leaps ecstatically onto the grass, and the crowd cheers.

The caption to the clip, which can be watched here, implies that she was given $10,000 for her success and she can later be seen counting her winnings.
